Members of the adult book club at the Burns Library and Pine Bluffs Library read Steve’s book THE PUMPKIN EATER, awards-winning first book in The Sam Dawson Mystery series and met with the author on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Burns Library on Main Street in Burns. In addition to Burns and Pine Buffs, there were readers who came from Cheyenne to join in the discussion.

A very lively discussion with the readers on the eugenics movement in the USA that no one in the group was aware had occurred. They agreed with the author and thought that writing in fiction about things that should not be forgotten was important. In addition to discussing the specifics in the mystery, they discussed how the author developed his plots, characters, and settings. Steve enjoyed the discussion and has agreed to come again to discuss some of his other books when they invite him back.

Many in the group had brought copies of the book for the author to personalize to them. One of the members had bought books and donated them to the branch libraries to be available to the readers in addition to the Laramie County Library book kit that book clubs use.
